JOB SUMMARY: Manage all facets of administering total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and peripheral parenteral nutrition (PPN) to Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF) adult patients followed by the Nutrition Support and Vascular Access Department (NSVAD) under the supervision of a physician. Integrate the activities of services involved in the evaluation and discharge process for patients requiring long-term TPN. Precept and supervise fellows, surgical and medical residents, and dietetic interns rotating with NSVAD. Approve the initiation of TPN and PPN for all CCF adult patients under the supervision of a physician. Assess nutritional status of adult patients followed by NSVAD.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Dietitian: Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, foods, or closely related field. Master's preferred. Completion of an American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved dietetic internship (or equivalent to fulfill requirements for ADA registration eligibility). Nurse: Bachelor's degree in nursing. Pharmacist: Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a university accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Three or more years of experience in nutrition support is strongly preferred.Dietitian: Current registration and state licensure by the Ohio Board of Dietetics. Current certification in nutrition support by the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification. CNSD certification must be obtained within one year from the date of hire. Master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, foods, or other closely related field strongly preferred. Nurse: Current licensure in the state of Ohio. Current certification in nutrition support by the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification. A master's degree without certification will be considered but CNSN certification must be obtained within one year from the date of hire. Master's degree in nursing strongly preferred. Pharmacist: Current licensure as a registered Pharmacist in the State of Ohio. Current certification in nutrition support by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (CNSP). Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires working under stressful conditions with critically ill patients with some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires flexible work hours including weekend and holiday coverage.
