Successful completion of a Radiologic Technology training program approved by the American Medical Association, plus certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Completion of an accredited training program in phlebotomy. Minimum of six months of concentrated phlebotomy experience within the past year may be substituted for the phlebotomy training program.
JOB SUMMARY: Operates radiology equipment to produce radiographic images of specified areas of the body and performs related technical x-ray procedures in accordance with physician's orders and standard techniques, procedures or specific instructions. Performs a variety of procedures to assist in providing laboratory techniques and procedures, including venipuncture, capillary puncture and other blood drawing procedures to comfort patients as needed. Uses appropriate barrier protection devices such as gloves, lab coat or smock. Observes hand-washing techniques

JOB REQUIREMENTS: High school graduation or equivalent. Successful completion of a Radiologic Technology training program approved by the American Medical Association, plus certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Ability to operate Radiologic equipment and perform related technical procedures. Must be able to lift and carry up to 44 pounds throughout the work day. May require heavy lifting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructs patient, in a courteous manner, regarding x-ray procedures to be carried out. Positions patients for radiographic imaging utilizing supportive and immobilization devices to prevent undue movement, and uses protective shields.
Practices ALARA procedures.
Operates and positions complex radiographic equipment at proper distance and angle for purposes of obtaining standard radiographic images. Consistently selects proper film size and correct technical factors relative to the study, the patient's age and body habitus. Follows standards as specified. Consistently operates Radiology Information System to ensure accurate patient information by: tracking patient in/out of procedure room, tracking supplies/films used, identifying patient films, tracking repeated films, and all other necessary aspects of RIS.
Reviews developed radiographs for accuracy and technical quality according to established standards, and repeats procedures as required; submits developed radiographs for interpretation by radiologist.
Maintains appropriate quality control of all radiologic procedures and equipment by monitoring the operating condition of the equipment and accessories and by utilizing proper radiation protection and sterile techniques and universal precautions. Cleans and makes minor adjustment to equipment, and reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor. Documents all quality control as required for regulatory agencies.
Considers the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process in delivery of services to patients in the age group served. Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and provides the care needed in accordance with department policy. Exercises clinical judgment within scope of practice.
Creates film copies on CD or prints film to be sent to outside physicians, faxes reports to outside physicians offices as needed.
Greets, instructs and communicates to all patients in a courteous and professional manner. Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection processes and is able to clearly communicate patient collection instructions.
Performs data entry to order appropriate test/s using laboratory or radiology information system.. Follows standard patient identification procedure.
Collects and properly labels specimens and performs venipunctures on a variety of patients including adults and pediatrics according to standard laboratory techniques. Attends to minimal patient care as needed (i.e. ice pack for patient who feels faint).
Maintains and completes all required documentation including, but not limited to Phlebotomy Specimen log, QC logs, and variance reports.
Receives and processes specimens received from patients and other departments. Prepares packages and arranges for transport of specimens as required.
Strictly adheres to universal precautions according to company policy to include appropriate use of PPE at all times, proper disposal of biohazardous waste and sharps waste.
Assists in maintaining and stocking an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment and disinfects work surfaces daily and as needed.
Prepares examination and treatment rooms for use by physicians and other medical providers by cleaning, stocking and arranging supplies, equipment and instruments.
Sets priorities according to most emergent needs.
Reviews orders and takes appropriate action.
Performs other duties as required.
Maintains current CPR certification and follows KP service standards.
